Is it Possible for Vitamins to Cause Allergic Reactions?

Vitamins are the most vital of all the constituents a human must ingest through diet. Vitamins have a wide range of biochemical functions, from regulators to helping in speeding metabolism to repairing tissues and cells. However, since vitamins tablets are the most popularly taken tablets by people to nourish their bodies and make up for deficiencies they might be suffering from, it is possible to develop allergies towards vitamins. Studies have revealed that a majority of people are actually gaining no good by consuming vitamin supplements, and are rather doing harm. Allergies to vitamins may develop from a mild to even severe extent. Common allergies to vitamins have the symptoms characteristic of most of the allergies, like skin rashes, breathing problems, wheezing, fatigue, headaches, itchiness, etc. More serious conditions of such allergies may even cause anaphylactic reactions from the patient, thereby becoming life-threatening. More specifically, allergies to Vitamin C mostly include skin rashes and hives. Other vitamins like Vitamin B3, B6, are rarely known to induce allergies, but there have been cases, where allergies to B vitamins cause rashes, itching, head-throbbing. Skin-tests, proper diagnosis by the doctor are important measures once an allergy to vitamins has been identified, and sometimes the only option might be to cease taking vitamins.
