Can one have supplements for better sexual health?

There are some supplements that can improve sexual health in both men and women. For men, the most popular sexual health supplement is L-arginine. This is an amino acid that has several roles in the body. It helps maintain normal functioning of the pituitary gland and reduces the effects of aging on the body. It also helps in maintaining sexual health. L-arginine is the ancestor of NO. The enzyme nitric oxide synthase acts on L-arginine to produce nitric oxide. NO is secreted during sexual stimulation. This causes dilation of the blood vessels and increases blood flow to the penis, resulting in an erection. Lack of nitric oxide can result in erectile dysfunction. Most of the supplements for male sexual health contain L-arginine. For women, there are a number of herbal supplements available for improving sexual health. A combination of Saw Palmetto and Siberian Ginseng is known to be very effective in increasing a woman’s sex drive. Supplements derived from Epimedium Grandiflorum, a plant known for its aphrodisiac properties can also help improve libido in women. Another supplement made using Maca root can improve strength and stamina and enhance sexual performance. Such supplements are available in department stores but it is advisable to use them under a doctor’s guidance since they may have side effects or drug interactions.
